Creams and Cleansers
Beat pre-winter dullness with these 10 ideas for luminous skin:

1. Switch cleansers. Your warm-weather cleanser may strip your skin this time of year. Switch to a creamy cleanser.

2. Moisturize regularly. Try a lotion that absorbs easily if you tend to get shiny during the day.

3. Try chemical exfoliation. Alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) and beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs) work better than grainy scrubs to slough off dulling dead cells.

4. Swear by eye cream. Tired, dark eyes make the rest of your skin look lifeless, too. Apply cream before bed (and in the a.m., too, if your eye area is particularly dry).

5. Lube up while wet. Applying moisturizer to damp skin locks in water, keeping it hydrated -- and glowing -- all day.

6. Consider microdermabrasion. This dermatologist's-office procedure gets rid of dead skin cells and boosts circulation.

7. Reflect light with makeup. Many brands offer foundations that contain particles which reflect light, making skin look more radiant.

8. Try self-tanner. A light shade will give you subtle color and make your skin look summer-healthy.

9. Avoid drying medications. Topicals like Retin-A or over-the-counter blemish treatments can dry the skin, creating a dull layer of dead cells over healthier, more luminous cells.

10. Experiment with Vitamin C. It has been shown to not only reverse sun damage, but also give skin a clearer, brighter look. Try a powdered Vitamin C you can mix with your moisturizer.
