Fresh color and a new window
seat pump up the style.
The Challenge:
To refresh a dowdy bedroom and turn it into a sophisticated master-suite
retreat. The colonial-style furniture looks like a set piece
with everything perfectly matched. (The bedside lamps are mismatched
but neither one is in scale with the bed or the bedside tables.)
The high contrast between the dark bedspread, furnishings, and
valance and the light wall color seems disjointed rather than
dramatic and doesn't create a restful atmosphere.
The Solution:
Choose a new wall color and new bedding for a monochromatic scheme,
replace the bedside tables with unmatched ones, and dress the
windows with new draperies. A new reclining chair and window
seat complete the transformation.
