The warm colors of wallflowers are a good contrast to the bright green foliage. Each 1- to 2-foot flower spike sports a line of single flowers in red, yellow, orange, or purple. Prefering cool weather, wallflowers are at their best in spring, declining as summer heat increases. This plant does best in areas with mild temperatures all season.

Care
Discard plants as they die back in the summer heat.

Planting
Direct sow seed in spring, thinning to 12 inches. In areas with hot summers, seed can be started indoors 10 - 12 weeks before last frost.
