This is the weeping willow often
seen growing beside ponds. It is a large, fast-growing tree with
long, low branches that form a broad, open, rounded crown. The
narrow leaves are bright green and up to 4 inches long, turning
golden yellow in fall. In spring, male flowers are silvery, silky
catkins.
Like most willows, it is a messy
tree prone to wind damage, pests, and diseases and for that reason
is best sited in an open area, away from houses and pavement.
