No-Bake Butterscotch Haystacks

1 cup butterscotch chips
1 cup peanut butter chips
1 tablespoon vegetable shortening
2 cups chow mein noodles
  1. Line cookie sheet with wax paper.
  2. In a medium microwave-safe bowl combine butterscotch chips, peanut butter chips and shortening and microwave at HIGH (100%) for 1 minute; stir. If necessary, microwave at HIGH an additional 15 seconds at a time, stirring after each heating, just until chips are melted and mixture is smooth when stirred.
  3. Stir in chow mein noodles, stirring until well coated. (Noodles will break up, which is desirable.)
  4. Drop by heaping teaspoonfulss onto prepared cookie sheet; let stand until firm, or refrigerate until firm.

Makes about 2 dozen candies.
