Whiskers Cookies

1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
3 large egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
2 tablespoons sour milk
1 pound walnuts, chopped
1 pound dates, chopped
  1. Preheat oven to 325°F. Grease cookie sheet.
  2. In a small bowl, beat sugar and butter with a wire whisk until creamy. Beat in egg yolks and vanilla, until creamed. Set aside.
  3. In a medium bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cloves. Combine creamed mixture and sour milk. Add to the flour mixture and blend well. Mix in walnuts and dates.
  4. Drop batter by spoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes, or until brown.

Makes 48 cookies.
