A very low sodium, low potassium recipe.
Brown Rice and Barley
- 1 cup (240mL) raw brown rice
1/2 cup (120mL) pearl barley
1 teaspoon (5mL) olive oil
1/3 cup (80mL) finely chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1 1/2 tablespoons (22.5mL) fresh lime juice
1 1/2 tablespoons (22.5mL) Mrs. Dash® Extra Spicy Seasoning Blend
1/2 cup (120mL) dried cranberries
1 tablespoon (15mL) butter
- Cook the brown rice and barley in water for 40 minutes, according to package directions.
- Heat olive oil in small skillet, add onion and garlic and saute until tender.
- Combine brown rice, barley, onion mixture, lime juice, Mrs. Dash® Extra Spicy Seasoning Blend, dried cranberries, and butter. Serve warm.
