MARDI
GRAS
- NEW ORLEAN'S
GRAND CELEBRATION!
In New Orleans, the grand celebration
of Mardi Gras starts the first week of January and goes to midnight
on Shrove Tuesday--the day before Ash Wednesday and the beginning
of Lent.
The weeks leading up to Mardi
Gras (also known as Fat Tuesday) are filled with masquerade parties,
festive parades, and plenty of good food. But you don't have
to be in the French Quarter to enjoy the delicious fare, sip
on hurricanes in plastic cups and the carnival atmosphere. In
fact, Mardi Gras-themed events are gaining in popularity across
the world. With the great recipes and links included here, you
too can enjoy a taste of Mardi Gras and start your own tradition,
as well. Laissez Les Bon Temps! (Let the good times roll!)
Do you know what the colors of
Mardi Gras symbolize? Purple represents Justice; Green represents
Faith; Gold represents Power.
