Frequently Asked Questions
QUESTION:
How do I keep my bread from sticking to Pyrexware?
Hi, just need a tip on how to bake bread in a Pyrex (glass baking dish) without letting it stick, can you help me?
ANSWER:
First tip, invest in a good nonstick bread baking pan. ;)
Until then, liberally grease the Pyrex with vegetable shortening using a small piece of clean paper towel, making sure to completely cover the inside surface of the pan before placing dough in.
When finished baking, take a thin metal spatula or butter knife and carefully run it around the edges to loosen the bread but not remove it...yet. Allow to cool on a wire rack (or any heatproof item that allows air to pass underneath the pan) for about 10 to 15 minutes and then turn the bread out of the pan.
The key is to turn the bread out while it is still slightly warm. If allowed to cool completely while in the pan, it has made its home and is staying put! If this happens, you can always place it back in a warm oven for a few minutes to loosen the bread from the sides.
