Interesting spreads are always a welcome--and carefree-- party appetizer. Prepare a day or two in advance and offer at cool room temperature with crackers, veggies and cocktail rye.
Swiss Cheese Ham and Caraway Spread
- 1 1/4 cups shredded Swiss cheese
1/3 cup ground ham
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons softened butter
2 tablespoons coarse-grained mustard
1 teaspoon caraway seeds
- In food processor blend cheese, ground ham, mayonnaise, butter, mustard and caraway seeds. Process, scraping down sides of bowl, until smooth.
- Arrange spread in attractive serving bowl; place on tray surrounded by assorted crackers, breads and vegetables. Good vegetable choices: sliced cucumbers, trimmed green onions, baby carrots, celery sticks, red pepper slices, trimmed radishes, jicama slices
Makes about 1 1/4 cups.
