Water Chestnuts Wrapped with Bacon
A tasty vegetarian version of rumaki.
Recipe Ingredients:
1 pound sliced bacon
4 (8-ounce each) cans whole water chestnuts, drained
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
Cooking Directions:
- Cut bacon into thirds.
- Wrap a strip of bacon around a water chestnut and secure with a wooden pick through the bacon and water chestnut. Repeat with remaining bacon and chestnuts.
- Place on broiler pan. Cook until bacon is crisp, turning as needed.
- Mix soy sauce and brown sugar together in bowl.
- Place cooked/wrapped chestnuts in sauce and marinate for a couple of seconds. Serve hot.
Makes 4 dozen or more appetizers.
