Butter Pecan Turtle Bars

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup butter
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup chopped pecans
2/3 cup butter
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup (6-ounces) semisweet OR milk chocolate chips
  1. Preheat oven to 350 *F (175*C).
  2. Mix flour, 1/2 cup butter and 1 cup sugar until crumbly, and press in the bottom of a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Sprinkle pecans evenly over crust.
  3. In a small saucepan, bring 2/3 cup butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar to a boil and cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat and pour mixture evenly over the crust.
  4. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes. Remove and immediately sprinkle with 1 cup chocolate chips. Allow chocolate to soften and then spread evenly over all with a spatula. Cool, and cut into bars.
