Chewy Granola Bars

1 1/2 cups baking mix
1 1/2 cups quick-cooking oats
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter OR margarine, softened
1 large egg
1/3 cup semisweet chocoate chips
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Combine baking mix, oats, brown sugar in a medium bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Make a well in the center and add egg. Use a fork to mix egg into dry ingredients until moistened and crumbly. Stir in chocolate chips. Press evenly into a 9-inch square baking pan.
  3. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until center is set. Cut into bars while warm.

Makes 24 bars.
