Pecan Pie Squares

2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar, divided use
1/2 teaspoon salt
10 tablespoons butter, melted, divided use
3 large eggs, beaten
1 cup light corn syrup
2 cups chopped pecans
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9 x 13-inch baking pan; set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, 1/2 cup of the sugar, salt and 8 tablespoons (1/2 cup) of the butter. Mix on medium speed with an electric mixer until it resembles coarse meal. Press crust firmly into the bottom of baking pan. Bake for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  3. In a bowl, combine eggs, remaining 1 cup sugar, corn syrup, remaining 2 tablespoons butter and pecans. Mix well and pour over crust. Bake an additional 20 to 25 minutes, or until filling is set. Cool before cutting into squares.

Makes 24 squares.
