Rainbow Brownies

1 cup butter OR margarine, softened
1 1/2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 (12-ounce) package OR 2 cups candy covered chocolate pieces
1 cup nuts, chopped
  1. Preheat oven to 375*F.
  2. In a medium bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour and baking soda. Add to the creamed mixture and blend well. Stir in candy covered chocolate pieces and chopped nuts. Spread the dough into a 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
  4. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the center is set. Cool before cutting.

Makes 24 bars.
