Sourdough Discard Whole Wheat Bread
A hearty whole wheat yeast bread with the tangy flavor of sourdough. This recipe is written for use with bread machines.
Recipe Ingredients:
For 1 1/2 Pound Loaf:
3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup sourdough discard (unfed starter), at room temperature
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
3 cups whole wheat bread flour
2 teaspoons active dry yeast
For 2 Pound Loaf:
1 cup plus 3 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1 1/4 cup sourdough discard (unfed starter), at room temperature
2 teaspoons salt
4 teaspoons granulated sugar
4 cups whole wheat bread flour
2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
Cooking Directions:
- Place ingredients in the bread machine pan in the order suggested by the manufacturer.
- Select Whole Wheat bread cycle and start machine.
Makes 1 loaf.
