A simple chocolate glaze, made with cocoa, is the quickest and easiest way to ice cakes, cupcakes, cream puffs and more.
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3 tablespoons water
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups powdered sugar
- In small saucepan over low heat, melt butter. Stir in cocoa and water. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens. Do not boil. Remove from heat.
- Stir in vanilla. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating with whisk until smooth. Add additional water, 1/2 teaspoon at a time, until desired consistency.
- Spread glaze over top of cake, allowing glaze to drizzle down sides.
Makes about 1 1/2 cups cocoa glaze.
