Millionaire Candy
The original 'Millionaire Candy' was created by H.T. Pangborn in the kitchen of his family-owned drugstore in Fort Worth, Texas back in 1914—and they've been a favorite Texas treat ever since. Pangborn made his candy with milk, honey, caramel, pecans and milk chocolate.
This tasty version uses pecans, but that is where the similarity ends.
Recipe Ingredients:
1 (4-ounce) package German sweet chocolate
1 (6-ounce) package peanut butter chips
1 (6-ounce) package butterscotch chips
1/4 bar paraffin*
1 cup coarsely chopped pecans
Cooking Directions:
- Butter a waxed paper or foil-lined baking sheet. Set aside.
- Melt chocolate, peanut butter chips, butterscotch chips and paraffin in top of a double boiler. Remove from heat and stir in nuts.
- Drop by teaspoonfuls onto prepared baking pan. Chill.
Makes 2 dozen candies.
*Or substitute 1 tablespoon vegetable shortening, if you prefer.
