Bavarian Apple Torte
- Crust:
- 3/4 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Filling:
- 2 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Topping:
- 3 cups thinly sliced, peeled, tart apples
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Combine ingredients for crust and press onto the bottom of an ungreased 9-inch springform pan.
- In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar; add eggs and vanilla, mixing well. Pour over the crust.
- Combine topping ingredients and spoon over filling. Place pan on a foil-lined baking sheet to prevent drips.
- Bake at 350*F (175*C) for 55 to 60 minutes or until the center is set and apples are tender. Cool completely on a wire rack before releasing sides of pan.
- Store in the refrigerator.
Makes 12 servings.
