Fresh Fruit Crisp
- Filling:
6 cups peeled, cored and thinly sliced apples, peaches or pears (about 6 to 8 medium)
1/4 cup apple or orange juice or water
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Topping:
1 cup quick or old fashioned oats
1/2 cup coarsely chopped nuts
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for accompaniment (optional)
- Heat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or spray an 8-inch square glass baking dish with cooking spray; set aside.
- For Filling: Combine fruit and juice or water in large bowl. Add sugar, flour and cinnamon; stir until fruit is evenly coated. Spoon into baking dish.
- For Topping: Combine all ingredients in medium bowl and mix well. Sprinkle evenly over fruit.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until fruit is tender.
- Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
Makes 9 servings.
