Fresh Fruit Crisp

Filling:
6 cups peeled, cored and thinly sliced apples, peaches or pears (about 6 to 8 medium)
1/4 cup apple or orange juice or water
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Topping:
1 cup quick or old fashioned oats
1/2 cup coarsely chopped nuts
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for accompaniment (optional)
  1. Heat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or spray an 8-inch square glass baking dish with cooking spray; set aside.
  2. For Filling: Combine fruit and juice or water in large bowl. Add sugar, flour and cinnamon; stir until fruit is evenly coated. Spoon into baking dish.
  3. For Topping: Combine all ingredients in medium bowl and mix well. Sprinkle evenly over fruit.
  4. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until fruit is tender.
  5. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.

Makes 9 servings.
