Top this yummy dessert with a dollop of sweetened whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Hot Fudge Cake

1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup granulated sugar
6 tablespoons unsweetened baking cocoa, divided use
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 3/4 cups hot water
Sweetened whipped cream or ice cream (optional)
  1. Preheat oven to 350*F (175*C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, 2 tablespoons cocoa, baking powder and salt. Stir in the milk, oil and vanilla until smooth. Spread in an ungreased 9-inch square baking pan.
  3. Combine brown sugar and remaining cocoa; sprinkle over batter. Pour hot water over all; do not stir.
  4. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes. Serve warm.
  5. Top with a dollop of sweetened whipped cream or ice cream, if desired.

Makes 9 servings.
