Spaghetti & Savory Meatballs
A good basic recipe for ground beef meatballs. Although this recipe suggests a ready-made spaghetti sauce, do use homemade sauce when you have the extra time.
Recipe Ingredients:
Meatballs:
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup soft bread crumbs
1 large egg
2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
Spaghetti:
1 (26 to 30-ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
8 ounces uncooked spaghetti, cooked
Freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Cooking Directions:
- For Meatballs: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Combine meatball ingredients in large bowl, mixing lightly but thoroughly. Shape into twelve 2-inch meatballs. Place on rack in broiler pan.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes to medium (160°F | 70°C) doneness, until no longer pink in center and juices show no pink color.
- For Spaghetti: Combine meatballs and spaghetti sauce in large saucepan; heat through, stirring occasionally. Serve over cooked spaghetti pasta; sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
Makes 4 servings.
