Charoset
One of the most enduring symbols of the Passover Seder is charoset, a chopped mixture of fruit, usually apple, nuts and, most often, sweet red wine.
Recipe Ingredients:
3 cups shredded peeled apples
1 cup finely chopped walnuts or pecans (use a food processor for finer texture)
1/3 cup honey
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup kosher red wine
1-inch piece grated fresh ginger
Cooking Directions:
- Stir together all ingredients in a large bowl until well mixed.
Makes 4 cups.
