Charoset
Charoset is a sweet, dark-colored, chunky paste made of fruits and nuts served during the Passover Seder. Its color and texture are meant to recall the mortar with which the Israelites bonded bricks when they were enslaved in Ancient Egypt.
Recipe Ingredients:
2 cups golden raisins
2 cups pitted dates
2 cups almonds
2 cups pecans or walnuts
6 red apples, cored and peeled
Kosher wine or grape juice
Cooking Directions:
- Place fruits and pecans (or walnuts), into food processor and pulse until well blended, adding enough kosher wine or grape juice until desired consistency.
Makes 8 cups.
