For a soup supper extraordinaire, serve wedges of this hearty bread with steaming bowls of your favorite vegetable-beef soup or clam chowder.
Focaccia Pizza with Caramelized Onions and Peppers
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup each red, green, and yellow bell pepper strips
1/2 cup sliced red onion
1 teaspoon granulated sugar
1 (12.7-ounce) package BUITONI® Italian Herbs and Cheese Focaccia Bread Mix
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded mozzarella cheese
- Preheat oven to 425° F.
- Heat olive oil in large skillet over medium-high heat. Add bell peppers, onion, and sugar. Cook, stirring frequently, for 8 to 10 minutes or until bell peppers are very tender and onion is golden.
- Prepare focaccia dough according to steps 1 and 2 of package directions, stirring in topping with flour and yeast.
- Bake for 8 minutes. Spoon vegetable mixture evenly over focaccia; sprinkle with cheese. Bake for additional 4 to 10 minutes or until golden around edges. Cool in pan on wire rack for 1 to 2 minutes before serving.
