French Apple Pie
Delicious apple pie with a buttery sweet, brown sugar crumble topping.
Recipe Ingredients:
Filling:
8 cups peeled and sliced apples
1/2 cup granulated sugar
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Crumble Topping:
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 (9-inch) unbaked pie shell
Cooking Directions:
- For Filling: Mix together sliced apples, sugar, flour and cinnamon. Pour into a 9-inch unbaked pie shell.
- For Crumble Topping: Mix together flour, brown sugar and cinnamon. Cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over apples. Cover the edge of the crust with aluminum foil.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 450°F (230°C) for 15 minutes then reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C). Bake until the apples are tender, 25 to 35 minutes. Cool completely.
Makes 8 servings.
