Ham with Spiced Cherry Sauce

1 (approximately 2 pound) fully-cooked ham slice
1 (16-ounce) can tart pie cherries
5 teaspoons cornstarch
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons white distilled vinegar
2 tablespoons water
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 cup red wine
  1. Place thinly sliced ham in a baking dish.
  2. Drain canned cherries and reserve the syrup. Combine the cherry syrup in a saucepan with cornstarch, sugar, vinegar, water, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick and clear. Add red wine and the cherries.
  3. Pour over the ham slices and bake in a 350*F oven for 45 minutes.

Makes 4 servings.
