Maple Sauce

1 cup maple-flavor syrup
1 cup catsup
3/4 cup dry white wine
1/4 cup water
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 bay leaf
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
1 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed
1 teaspoon dried basil, crushed
1 teaspoon instant beef bouillon granules
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  1. Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan. Cook until boiling; reduce heat. Cook, uncovered, for 30 minutes or until mixture is reduced to about 2 cups, stirring occasionally. Brush on beef, pork chops, chicken, or sausages during the last 10 to 15 minutes of grilling.
