Smoky Barbecue Sauce
- 3 cups chopped onions
1/4 cup honey
1 tablespoon minced garlic
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 cup finely chopped green bell pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons dried parsley
3 tablespoons steak sauce
1 cup white wine
3 tablespoons white distilled vinegar
1 tablespoon smoke flavoring
2 cups tomato ketchup
1 1/2 teaspoons liquid hot pepper sauce
- In a large kettle, combine chopped onions, honey, minced garlic, lemon juice, chopped green bell pepper, salt, parsley, steak sauce, white wine, vinegar, smoke flavoring, ketchup, and liquid hot pepper sauce. Bring to a boil and cook, covered, on low heat for 2 hours.
Makes about 5 cups.
