Use this all-purpose red sauce whenever you need a tomato sauce with a spicy kick. Heat and serve with enchiladas, on pizza or even spaghetti.
Spicy Tex-Mex Red Sauce
- 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
3 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon crushed dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- In a small bowl, whisk together tomato sauce, lemon juice, garlic, vinegar, chili powder, salt, red pepper flakes, cumin, oregano and garlic powder. Refrigerate for 3 hours, to blend flavors.
Makes about 2 cups.
