Country-Style Pea Soup
Deliciously simple, hot and hearty split pea soup seasoned with ham hocks.
Recipe Ingredients:
8 cups water
2 cups split green peas
2 pounds ham hocks
1 onion, chopped
1 celery rib, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon salt
Cooking Directions:
- In a stockpot, combine water, split peas, ham hocks, onion, celery, garlic and salt. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until split peas are very soft.
- Purée or strain and reheat before serving.
Makes 8 servings.
