These ribs are flavorful and a twist from the standard red barbecue sauce. Serve with sesame green beans.
Hunan Spareribs
- 2 whole slabs of pork spareribs, about 4 pounds total
- 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce
2 tablespoons ketchup
2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
2 tablespoons sesame oil
2 tablespoons Dijon-style mustard
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Place spareribs, cutting into serving-sized portions if desired, on a medium-hot grill over indirect heat. Close grill hood and grill for 2 hours, until tender. (Add extra charcoal, if necessary, to maintain grill temperature of 325-350 degrees F.)
- Meanwhile, stir together remaining ingredients and baste ribs, turning as necessary to coat all surfaces, during last 30 to 45 minutes of grilling.
Makes 4 servings.
