"Angry" Italian Bean Spread
With its 'angry' spice and robust garlic flavor, this classic Italian spread offers one delicious bite after another. Original recipe created by Chef Michael Chiarello.
Recipe Ingredients:
1/4 cup packed Italian parsley leaves
2 cloves garlic, peeled
2 (15-ounce) cans red beans, rinsed and drained
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
3/4 cup BUITONI Refrigerated Marinara Sauce
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
Crackers or grilled bread
Cooking Directions:
- Combine parsley and garlic in food processor; process for 30 seconds. Add beans, salt, pepper and red pepper flakes; process for 1 minute. Scrape down sides of bowl; process for 30 seconds. With processor running, add sauce and oil. Process for 30 seconds or until smooth.
- Serve with crackers or grilled bread.
Makes 2 2/3 cups (8 servings).
Tip: To make dip less "angry", use less red pepper flakes, and to make it angrier, add more.
