Blondies 1
These scrumptious brown sugar bars are enhanced with yummy semisweet chocolate chips in every bite.
Recipe Ingredients:
1 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher or sea salt
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup butter-flavored or plain vegetable shortening
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips*
1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Cooking Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9x2-inch baking pan**; set aside.
- Place all ingredients as listed, except for the chocolate chips and nuts (if using), in a mixing bowl. Beat with an electric mixer at low speed just until ingredients are combined and then beat at medium speed for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes, or until smooth and well mixed. Spread batter into prepared pan.
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips and nuts, if using, over the top, distributing evenly.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown.
Makes 16 blondies.
*You can use any flavored chips, be creative and use a combination of flavors using milk chocolate, white chocolate, butterscotch and/or peanut butter chips chips.
**If using a dark baking pan or glass baking dish, reduce oven temperature to 325°F (160°C).
