Fruit Smoothies

Fruit SmoothiesThis fruit and yogurt smoothie is a wonderful way to start your day, or serve as a healthy snack any time. Be creative when making a smoothie, the combination of fruit flavors is limited only to your imagination.

Recipe Ingredients:

1 cup (8-ounces) plain lowfat yogurt, or any flavor as desired
1 cup 2% milk or any fruit juice
1 medium banana, sliced
1 cup whole strawberries, or your choice of fruit, cut-up if necessary
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
8 to 10 ice cubes*

Cooking Directions:

  1. Place all ingredients, except the ice cubes, into container of electric blender and blend on high until smooth.
  2. With blender running, add 2 to 3 ice cubes at a time through the center opening in the lid until all ice cubes have been added. Blend until smooth. Serve immediately.

Makes 2 servings.

*Tips:

  • If you use frozen fruit, there is no need to use ice to thicken the smoothie.
  • Freeze bananas past their prime for use in smoothies.
