Traditional White Bread

No recipe image available.A good basic recipe for white bread prepared using a bread machine.

Recipe Ingredients:

For 1 1/2 pound loaf:
1 cup water
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
3 cups bread flour
2 tablespoons dry milk
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
2 teaspoons active dry yeast

For 2 pound loaf:
1 3/8 cups water
2 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon butter or margarine
1 3/4 teaspoons salt
4 cups bread flour
2 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon dry milk
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 (0.25-ounce) packet active dry yeast, or 2 1/4 teaspoons

Cooking Directions:

  1. Place ingredients in the bread machine pan in the order suggested by the manufacturer. (Usually wet ingredients first, then dry and lastly the yeast.)
  2. Select the Basic bread cycle and start machine.

Makes 1 (1 1/2 or 2 pound) loaf.
