Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal
Bored of plain oatmeal? Try a bowl of cinnamon-scented oats with chopped apple cooked in apple juice.
Recipe Ingredients:
3 cups apple juice
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon kosher or sea salt
1 1/2 cups old fashioned oats
1 apple, peeled and finely chopped
Accompaniments:
Granulated or brown sugar, honey or other sweeteners (optional)
Milk or light cream (optional)
Cooking Directions:
- In medium saucepan, bring juice, cinnamon and salt to a boil; stir in oats and apple.
- Return to a boil; reduce heat to medium-low. Cook, uncovered, for 5 minutes until most of juice is absorbed, stirring occasionally.
- Cover and let stand for 5 minutes or until desired consistency.
- Serve sweetened as desired with milk or cream.
Makes 6 servings.
