Best Coffee Cake

No recipe image available.All this streusel-filled and topped coffee cake needs is to be accompanied with steaming mugs of robust coffee.

Recipe Ingredients:

1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 cup butter or margarine
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 cup buttermilk
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda

Cooking Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 13x9x2-inch baking pan; set aside.
  2. Combine the first 6 ingredients until crumbly. Reserve 1 cup of crumb mixture and set aside for topping.
  3. To the remaining crumb mixture add the rest of the ingredients from the buttermilk to the baking soda and stir by hand to combine. Mixture will be slightly lumpy.
  4. Pour into prepared baking pan. Top with the reserved 1 cup crumb mixture and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until tested done when wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Serve warm.

Makes 12 servings.
