Cream Cheese Cake
A moist and nutty, 'cake-mix-easy' cake topped with custard-like cream cheese layer.
1 cup nuts, chopped
1 (18.25-ounce) package yellow cake mix
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
5 large eggs - divided use
1 (16-ounce) package powdered sugar, sifted
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- In a bowl mix together chopped nuts, yellow cake mix, softened butter and 1 egg. Press the cake mixture into a greased 13x9x2-inch baking dish, leaving a raised edge around the sides.
- In another bowl beat together powdered sugar, softened cream cheese, 4 eggs, and vanilla with an electric mixer on medium speed until thoroughly combined. Spread over the cake mixture.
- Bake for 45 minutes at 325°F (160°C) or until the center is set.
Makes 12 servings.
