This super-easy recipe for caramel apples uses a bag of soft caramels and crisp Washington Red Delicious apples.
5 medium Red Delicious Washington Apples
1 (14-ounce) package soft caramels
2 tablespoons water
5 wooden sticks
- Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Insert wooden sticks in top of apple and remove excess juice on the apple; set aside.
- Microwave Method: Melt the bag of caramel and water in a large microwaveable bowl. Microwave on HIGH for 3 to 4 minutes.
- Stovetop Method: Melt the bag of caramel and water in a 1 1/2-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon when caramels until melted, about 15 to 20 minutes.
- Dip an apple in the caramel, place on waxed paper and chill in refrigerator.
Makes 5 caramel apples.
