Dumplings with Cherry, Blackberry and Pear Sauce
Old-fashioned dessert biscuit dumplings cooked in a fruit sauce. For easy variations, simply mix and match the type of pie fillings and canned fruit.
Recipe Ingredients:
1 (21-ounce) can cherry pie filling (or other berry pie filling)
1 (15.5-ounce) can sliced pears, in juice, undrained
2 cups all-purpose baking mix
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2/3 cup milk
Vanilla ice cream for accompaniment
Cooking Directions:
- Combine pie filling and pears with juice in large skillet. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to low.
- Combine baking mix, sugar and milk in small bowl; mix until soft dough is formed. Drop 10 spoonfulls over pie filling mixture. Cook, uncovered, for 10 minutes. Cover; cook for additional 10 to 12 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in dumpling comes out clean. Serve warm with ice cream.
Makes 8 servings.
