Turkey Picadillo

Recipe Ingredients:

1 pound ground turkey
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1/4 cup green pepper, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon sugar sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1 (14.5-ounce) can stewed tomatoes
1 medium Granny Smith apple, cored and chopped
1/4 cup golden raisins
2 tablespoons pimento stuffed olives, thinly sliced
Cooked rice, as needed
1/4 cup almonds, toasted

Cooking Directions:

  1. In large skillet over medium-high heat, sauté turkey, onion, green pepper and garlic until turkey is no longer pink.
  2. Stir in sugar, cinnamon, cumin, cloves, tomatoes, apple, raisins and olives. Bring to boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 15 to 20 minutes.
  3. Serve over rice and top with toasted almonds.

Makes 4 servings.
