Classic Potato, Onion and Ham Pizza
Buttery, sautéed slices of tender potatoes and onions top this ham and three-cheese pizza.
Recipe Ingredients:
3 tablespoons butter or olive oil - divided use
3 cups potatoes, sliced 1/4-inch thick
2 sweet onions, sliced 1/4-inch thick
1 tablespoon coarsely chopped garlic
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 (16-ounce) pre-baked pizza crust
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
8 thin slices deli ham
8 slices provolone cheese
1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup chopped flat-leaf parsley
Cooking Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (205°C).
- In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of the butter or oil; add the potatoes, onions, garlic, salt, and pepper. Cook over medium heat for 12 to 15 minutes, turning occasionally. Stir in the remaining butter and cook until the potatoes are golden brown, 5 to 7 minutes.
- Place the pizza crust on a pizza pan or a large baking sheet. On the crust, sprinkle the mozzarella; top with the ham slices. Place the potato mixture over the ham; top with the provolone slices. Sprinkle with the Parmesan and parsley.
- Bake directly on the oven rack for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
Makes 4 servings.
