Four Cheese Pizza
Pizza topped with four cheeses—Parmesan, Asiago, provolone and mozzarella—plus Italian sausage, mushrooms and sweet green peppers.
Recipe Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups crushed tomatoes or sauce tomatoes
3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 teaspoon dry, crushed basil leaves
1/4 teaspoon dry, crushed oregano leaves
9 ounces prepared pizza dough
1/2 cup Italian sausage, crumbled, browned, drained
3/4 cup sliced mushrooms
1/4 cup grated Asiago cheese
1/3 cup chopped sweet green peppers
3/4 cup shredded provolone cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Cooking Directions:
- Mix the tomatoes with the Parmesan cheese, basil, and oregano to make the pizza sauce.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (205°C).
- Shape the dough into a 12-inch round crust. Place the crust on pizza pans or large baking sheets. Ladle the sauce over the crust; spread evenly. Top pizza with the remaining ingredients.
- Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until the crust is crisp and golden. Cut the pizza into 6 wedges.
Makes 6 servings.
Tip: Instead of making the sauce, you may substitute 1 1/2 cups prepared pizza sauce for the tomatoes, Parmesan cheese, basil, and oregano.
