Asian Pea Pod Salad
Romaine lettuce, fresh pea pods and toasted sesame seeds tossed in a simple hoisin-flavored dressing.
Recipe Ingredients:
6 cups torn romaine lettuce
2 cups fresh pea pods, trimmed and halved crosswise
1/3 cup bottled Italian salad dressing
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted*
Cooking Directions:
- In a large salad bowl toss together the romaine and pea pods. In a small bowl stir together the dressing and hoisin sauce. Pour over romaine mixture and toss to coat. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Makes 6 servings.
*To toast sesame seeds, spread them in a single layer in a shallow baking pan. Bake in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 5 to 10 minutes or until light golden brown. Watch them carefully and stir once or twice so they don't burn.
