Mexican Turkey Burgers

Recipe Ingredients:

1 1/4 pounds ground turkey or chicken
3/4 cup sliced olives
1/3 cup chopped green onions
2 teaspoons minced jalapeño pepper
1 1/4 teaspoons minced garlic
2 tablespoons lime juice
2 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
2 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon ground sage
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
4 onion rolls

Optional Accompaniments:
4 slices avocado
1/2 cup prepared salsa

Cooking Directions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine meat, 1/2 cup olives, green onions, jalapeños and garlic. Season with lime juice, chili powder, cumin, sage and salt and mix thoroughly.
  2. Divide mixture into fourths and shape into patties.
  3. Grill turkey burgers over medium-high heat for 4 to 5 minutes on each side until cooked through.
  4. Place each cooked burger on the bottom half of a toasted onion roll.
  5. Garnish with 2 to 3 slices of avocado, 2 tablespoons salsa and 1 tablespoon sliced olives, if desired.
