A loose meat 'cheeseburger' made with ground pork sausage, chili sauce and mushrooms, topped with cheddar cheese and served on butter-toasted hamburger buns.
1 pound ground pork sausage
1/3 cup chili sauce
2 tablespoons pickle relish
1 (4-ounce) can sliced mushrooms, drained
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 1/2 cups shredded Wisconsin cheddar cheese
6 hamburger rolls, split, buttered and toasted
- Brown sausage in a heavy skillet. Drain off fat.
- Add chili sauce, relish, mushrooms, salt and pepper. Simmer thoroughly.
- When ready to serve, add cheese, melt and spoon immediately onto buttered, toasted rolls.
