Sharp Sweet Jones Ham and Cheese Sandwich
Grilled cheese sandwiches made with ham and specialty horseradish-flavored cheddar cheese on sourdough bread with mango-chutney, baby spinach leaves and thin slices of sweet red apple.
2 slices (1/2 inch thick) sourdough bread
4 teaspoons prepared mango-chutney
2 (1-ounce) slices Wisconsin Horseradish Cheddar Cheese*
2 Jones Farm Fresh and Tender Ham Slices or Jones Country Carved deli thin slices
6 to 8 baby spinach leaves, washed and patted dry
4 thin slices sweet red apple, such as Braeburn, Gala, Fuji or Red Delicious
1 teaspoon butter, melted
- Spread bread slices with mango-chutney.
- Top 1 slice of bread with 1 slice cheddar, ham, spinach, apple, second slice cheddar and second slice of bread.
- Heat sandwich press**.
- Brush top and bottom of sandwich lightly with butter; cook about 7 minutes or until lightly browned and cheese begins to melt.
Makes 1 serving. (Increase recipe as needed.)
*If Horseradish Cheddar is unavailable, substitute regular Wisconsin Cheddar and use horseradish mustard. Omit mango-chutney.
**Or, cook lightly buttered sandwich in nonstick skillet over medium-high heat about 4 minutes per side.
