Turkey Burgers Italiano

Turkey Burgers ItalianoYou can count on being asked to serve these saucy Italian-style turkey burgers again.

Recipe Ingredients:

1 (16-ounce) package PERDUE® Fresh Lean Ground Turkey or Fresh Ground Chicken
1 (0.7-ounce) package dried Italian salad dressing mix
1/2 cup (2 ounces) shredded mozzarella cheese, plus more if desired
1/2 cup jarred marinara or spaghetti sauce
4 (4x4-inch) pieces foccacia bread (or other rolls such as ciabatta), split
4 tablespoons fresh basil, thinly sliced

Cooking Directions:

  1. Preheat grill. In mixing bowl, combine ground turkey and Italian dressing mix. Mix well. Form into four patties.
  2. Grill burgers for 7 minutes per side or until a meat thermometer inserted into center of burger registers 170°F (76.6°C). Top each burger with shredded cheese about 3/4 of the way through cooking.
  3. While burgers are on the grill, heat marinara sauce on stovetop or in microwave oven.
  4. When burgers are finished, remove from grill and place each on bottom half of sliced bread or roll. Top each with about 2 tablespoons of sauce and 1 tablespoon of basil. Cover with top of bread or roll and serve.
